Number sense
An intuitive feel for what numbers mean and how they relate.
Number sense is a child's flexible, intuitive understanding of numbers, knowing that 8 is close to 10, that 6 is two groups of 3, or that 47 is a bit less than 50. It is the foundation everything else in math is built on, and it grows from lots of low-pressure practice, not memorization.
